چکیده

We report precision mass measurements of neutron-deficient gallium isotopes approaching the proton drip line. The Ga60–63 performed with TITAN multiple-reflection time-of-flight spectrometer provide a more than threefold improvement over current literature uncertainty Ga61 and mark first direct measurement Ga60. improved has important implications for astrophysical rp process, as it constrains essential reaction Q values near Zn60 waiting point. Based on calculations one-zone model, we demonstrate impact data prediction uncertainties x-ray burst models. first-time Ga60 ground-state establishes proton-bound nature this nuclide, thus constraining location line along isotopic chain. Including measured further enables us to extend evaluated T=1 isobaric multiplet equation up A=60.Received 14 August 2021Revised 22 October 2021Accepted 16 November 2021DOI:https://doi.org/10.1103/PhysRevC.104.065803©2021 American Physical SocietyPhysics Subject Headings (PhySH)Research AreasBinding energy & massesCoulomb energies analogue statesModels based symmetriesNuclear astrophysicsNuclear physics explosive environmentsNuclear reactionsNucleosynthesis in environmentsShell modelProperties59 ? Isobaric multiplet mass equation for A = 7 and 8

Typically cubic and quartic terms (dT 3 Z + eT 4 Z ) are added to the IMME to provide a measure of any deviation from the quadratic form associated with isospin symmetry. In general, the quadratic form (d = 0 and e = 0) provides a good description of isospin quartets and quintets for A < 40 where the appropriate experimental masses are known [1]. The success of IMME has lead people to use it to...

Breakdown of the isobaric multiplet mass equation for the A = 20 and 21 multiplets.

Using the Penning trap mass spectrometer TITAN, we performed the first direct mass measurements of (20,21)Mg, isotopes that are the most proton-rich members of the A = 20 and A = 21 isospin multiplets. These measurements were possible through the use of a unique ion-guide laser ion source, a development that suppressed isobaric contamination by 6 orders of magnitude. Compared to the latest atom...

A Strong X-ray Burst from the Low-mass X-ray Binary Exo 0748 676

We have observed an unusually strong X-ray burst as a part of our regular eclipse timing observations of the lowmass binary system EXO 0748 676. The burst peak flux was 5:2 ; 10 8 ergs cm s , approximately 5 times the normal peak X-ray burst flux observed from this source by RXTE. Spectral fits to the data strongly suggest that photospheric radius expansion occurred during the burst. In this pa...
